About the 2026 Summer Artisan Home

In the heart of Edina, The 2026 Summer Artisan Home brings together timeless architecture and bold modern character. Positioned on a prominent corner lot across from a city park, the home was designed with intention for a homeowner entering a new chapter in life, someone who wanted a place to settle in long term, grounded yet elevated, that complemented the established neighborhood while still feeling distinctive and uniquely his own. The goal throughout was a balance of sophistication and comfort, creating a residence that stands apart through thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and personality rather than following trends.

The palette is calm and confident, balancing warm natural materials with moments of moody contrast. White oak, limestone, quartzite, bronze, and concrete recur throughout, while the walls move from Benjamin Moore Simply White on the main floor to a color-drenched Sherwin-Williams Iron Ore in the den and Chantilly Lace in the primary bedroom. High-end selections add refinement to daily life: integrated Sub-Zero refrigeration, a custom La Cornue range, Dornbracht plumbing, Rocky Mountain solid bronze hardware, and a whole-home Lutron Caseta lighting system.

From the outside, the home makes an unforgettable first impression. Wrapped in dramatic black exterior detailing and anchored by steep architectural rooflines, it carries a confident, moody presence while maintaining a timeless neighborhood sensibility. Expansive black-framed windows flood the interior with natural light and create a striking contrast against the dark exterior palette.

Inside, craftsmanship is layered throughout. Seven-inch character-grade white oak floors in a custom dark stain run across the main and upper levels and into the bathrooms, grounded by a custom metal stair railing. The gathering room is wrapped in white oak shiplap with painted box beams and a fireplace clad in Alabama Shadow Vein limestone, while the adjacent four-season den is color-drenched in Iron Mountain with an enameled shiplap ceiling and a custom concrete fireplace. The designer kitchen pairs fully white oak cabinetry with a La Cornue range beneath an alabaster plaster hood, Sub-Zero refrigeration, and Taj Mahal satin quartzite counters with a thickened-edge island, all connecting to a dining room with built-in buffet and a powder bath finished with a custom leathered granite sink and a locally made Hennepin Made pendant.

Upstairs, the vaulted primary suite serves as a private retreat, with a white oak shiplap ceiling, solid-core kerf-style doors, and a spa-inspired bath of honed White Macaubas stone, a full Dornbracht suite, and layered accent and toe-kick lighting. Two additional en-suite bedrooms, including an upgraded children's bath with a soaking tub and waterfall shower head, and a convenient upper-level laundry complete the floor.

The lower level is designed for both entertainment and daily living, with a media room, a wet bar and lounge, a guest bedroom, a full bath, and an exercise room, all warmed by wool carpet throughout. Every space is practical, welcoming, and built for longevity, reflecting the interior design of The Sitting Room, the intentional architectural design of David Charlez Designs, and the exceptional craftsmanship of City Homes.

Let’s Bring Your Vision to Life

Whether you’re building new or reimagining the home you love, our team is ready to help you get there.

What Our Clients Say

When we purchased our row house from City Homes last spring, we knew nothing about this company. We had toured the house and were debating whether this was the right fit for us. After meeting with Rebecca, we were so impressed with her and her vision and that pretty much sealed the deal. Soon after, the process of making decisions/selections began and we were on our way. We began working with a team of primarily three...Logan, Annie and Kirk. We were pleasantly surprised to learn we would be meeting weekly with them. It is an understatement to say that this entire process has been incredible. Logan, Annie and Kirk are professional, smart, talented, kind and ultimately qualified to do their jobs. They make every effort to accommodate whatever changes we wish to make. They show up on time and always prepared. We receive a summary each week of the status of our project that is thorough and easy to understand. We will, of course, be happy when the project is completed, and we get to move into this beautiful new home, but will miss our interaction and weekly meetings with them. They are among the "best" in their industry and we consider them friends.
