How long have you been in business? 

 

As a team, City Homes Design + Build, LLC has been together for over five years with some members of the team having nearly 20 years of custom home building experience.

 

Why should someone build with you vs. other builders in the area? (What’s your “edge”?) 

Our focus on craftsmanship, attention to detail, transparent process, respect for different perspectives and quality deliver our customers what they want at a value that reinforces the significant investment our clients make in their high-end, custom homes.

 

How are your homes constructed? (Do you use any unique products?) 

We listen to our clients, we don’t cut corners and we believe in doing the job right the first time.  Our experience informs our choices of which materials will perform best for a particular home design. We also study design and material trends in the local area and from around the country to evaluate whether new practices and options should be incorporated into today’s new homes.

 

In order of importance, what are the top three things you look for from a supplier?

  1. Qualifications, experience and familiarity with the latest trends
  2. Ongoing support and dependable customer service
  3. Commitment to working as a team with our crew and other sub contractors

 

What communities do you primarily build in? 

We build in the Twin Cities metropolitan area with a focus on East Edina and Southwest Minneapolis

 

Can you assist in helping homeowners find the right lot? 

Absolutely.  We work just as hard with clients to find the right lot as we do to design the right home.  Rather than employ our own realtor in-house like other builders, we have made the conscious decision to work with the most experienced and respected realtors who work extensively in the neighborhoods where we build.

 

What’s the first step a homeowner should take before selecting a builder? 

Tour different homes to get ideas, take notes on what you like and don’t like and prepare yourself for a big job that could last up to 12 months from start to finish.  Homeowners are the most important members of the team that design and build a home. Honesty, open expression of opinions and ability to enjoy the process are the key ingredients for a successful relationship between a homeowner and a builder.

 

 

What are some trends you’re noticing in the marketplace now as far as new construction? (“smart home” designs? Eco-friendly?) 

Some of the most impactful trends we see today are elements like retractable glass doors and four season porches that provide a connection between the house and outdoors, wireless and Bluetooth technologies to make homes more connected and easier to operate, high-efficiency lighting and appliances that reduce energy consumption without compromised feel and performance and a master suite on the main floor.

 

How many luxury homes do you build annually?  

We build between six and eight high-end homes each year.
