This Shorewood home renovation and addition was thoughtfully designed to blend contemporary architecture with the warmth and character of an existing family home. City Homes, in collaboration with Everson Architect and Liquidpink Interiors, transformed this lakeside residence into a light-filled modern retreat carefully tailored to the homeowners’ evolving lifestyle and deep connection to the surrounding landscape.

The scope of this custom home renovation centered on creating a striking modern addition while fully preserving the integrity of the original structure. Clean architectural lines, expansive black Kolbe windows, and a flat-roof cube addition contrast beautifully with the home’s traditional forms, achieving a seamless balance between old and new. A thoughtfully designed connecting entry ties the two structures together, making the transition feel effortless and unified.

Inside, the home was designed to maximize natural light, wooded views, and open sightlines throughout. Oversized windows frame the surrounding trees and lake, creating an airy, peaceful atmosphere reminiscent of a modern treehouse. Warm natural materials, soft neutral finishes, and minimal detailing keep the architecture and views as the true focal point of the home.

The result is a refined, highly personalized home addition and renovation that brings together modern design, functional family living, and a strong indoor-outdoor connection. A beloved Minnesota home, reimagined for years to come.
